The River of Light event, running from October 27 2023, is an annual festival that takes place in Liverpool, creating an impressive mix of auditory and visual wonders. This captivating experience revitalises the city's waterfront, located at the heart of the city centre, and transforms it into an exquisite open-air art gallery.

The festival seamlessly merges art, music, and light into a harmonious symphony that engages the senses. Along a 1.2-mile (2km) loop pathway, you will have the opportunity to encounter ten exceptional contemporary art installations, forming an immersive journey that encourages exploration on foot.

Each year, the festival introduces an array of new artistic creations from both local and international artists. Over the course of 17 nights spanning from late October to early November, Liverpool's residents and visitors have the privilege of engaging with distinct light sculptures strategically positioned at prominent locations. These captivating installations come to life when the sun goes down, starting at 5 pm until 9 pm, showcasing their brilliance during the evening hours.

The festival serves as a platform for celebrating the intricate relationship between the city, music, and illumination. Among its notable highlights is a grand light sculpture situated at Liverpool ONE, resembling an expansive illuminated field. Comprising more than 100 interactive LED platforms, this installation offers a unique and engaging experience. Liverpool Town Hall contributes to the festivities by hosting an exhibit featuring neon artworks inspired by Diwali, adding a cultural dimension to the event.

Further enhancing the spectacle is the inclusion of the Museum of Liverpool's atrium, Canal Basin, Pier Head, and other renowned sites, all contributing to the immersive and captivating display that defines the River of Light.
