Welcome to Taylor Town. An Era Dawns.

An Era Dawns

In June 2024 Taylor Swift, the world's biggest star, played the hundredth show of The Eras Tour in Anfield, Liverpool Football Club’s stadium, and the city benefited hugely. Anfield has a capacity of 61,276, and tickets for each of the three nights the extravaganza was on went in the blink of an eye. And Liverpool easily hosted nearly 184,000 fans – locals, from around the UK and from abroad.

Liverpool never does events by halves, with a similar influx of visitors during Eurovision 2023, and the crowds who came to naming ceremony of Cunard’s newest ship, Queen Anne. Visitors are always treated to free elements, such as a fireworks spectacular, reinforcing Liverpool's status as a vibrant cultural hub.

Taylor Town

The concert programme was publicised well in advance, but Liverpool audiences were gifted a special extra track, ‘I Can See You’, as Taylor Swift had shot its video in Liverpool. The Anfield atmosphere is always special but Taylor Swift was overwhelmed by the additional charge generated by her expressive Liverpool fans, saying "Hello Liverpool, you have just gone and made me feel absolutely incredible."

To welcome Taylor Swift fans from across the globe, Liverpool was dubbed 'Taylor Town' for the three days. The city was decked out with a special Taylor Piano and a Taylor Trail of eleven artworks. The city centre was awash with Swifties in their pink cowboy hats, and Liverpool One created a festive atmosphere with Taylor-inspired installations, including a throne, a flower swing and a mural.

Economic Boost for Liverpool's Economy

According to Insider Media and Liverpool Business News, The Eras Tour was worth a staggering £26 million to Liverpool's economy, with Liverpool Football Club benefiting by up to £10 million. The other key beneficiary of was Liverpool One, the UK's largest outdoor retail destination, with the concert series generating £12 million from over 100,000 extra visitors. A surge in footfall that mirrored the levels recorded during Eurovision, underscoring Liverpool's growing reputation as a premier destination for high-profile events.

Other local businesses experienced a surge in patronage. Many hotels reported full occupancy during the concert dates, and restaurants and bars enjoyed increased foot traffic.
