Liverpool named one of the top holiday destinations in the WORLD for 2018

The city has been named as one of the top destinations to travel to this year on the holiday 'hotlist' 2018.Liverpool has been named in the top 40 destinations around the world to travel to on holiday in 2018.Nestled in with palm-fringed beaches, remote wildernesses and cultural hotspots on the holiday ‘hotlist’ this year is Liverpool.  Alongside, Paris, Harlem, Peru, New Orleans and Amsterdam, 10 years after the city was European Capital of Culture in 2008 it has been added to the hotlist by The Guardian which has dubbed the city as ‘still a capital of culture’.With everything that is happening in the city this year, there’s no surprise that it topped the list.This year tourists and locals have the opportunity to experience a year-long programme of culture, musical and sporting events to mark the 10 year anniversary since the city hosted European Capital of Culture.The Liverpool 2018 Programme will include a series of events, exhibitions, seasons and performances including the Terracotta warriors which will go on show at the World Museum, the finale of the Clipper Round the World yacht race in June and the Tate Liverpool’s 30th birthday.Mayor Anderson said: “We want everything we do in 2018 to build on the wonderful work which has taken place in the city since 2008.“2018 will be the next watershed year in the history of Liverpool and one which will make everyone who lives here proud, and everyone that doesn’t live here wonder why they don’t!”The full list of events happening at Eighteen for 18 is still to be announced, follow all the latest at www.visitliverpool.com/2018And those outside of Liverpool who like the idea of visiting the city on holiday will be delighted to know that Liverpool John Lennon Airport was voted the ‘friendliest airport’ in the country.It beat 13 other major airports to clinch the title ahead of Manchester, Edinburgh and Heathrow.
